Heavy weights challenge forces at Koppert Cress. Tuesday June 14, nine prestigious Spanish Chefs visited Koppert Cress in Holland, for a cooking session with a number of well-know Dutch chefs. The gastronomes, who were invited for a two-day visit to the famous Westland area, by the cress producer were excited by the flavours of the plants presented to them. A special surprise was the visit to the research greenhouse, were they got a little peek down the metaphorical pipeline. The highlight of the day was the cooking session, in which both Spanish and Dutch chefs exchanged knowledge and techniques. Although neither of the groups spoke each others language, this did not seem to be a barrier, proving that passion and professionalism are great communicators.
There were nine chefs in the Spanish group and each had made time in their busy schedule to accept the invitation and come to the Westland. Trendsetters from Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, San Sebastian and Valencia, were participating, with famous names as chefs from restaurant Mugaritz, restaurant De La Calle, restaurant Extanobe, but also Albert Adria from Tickets & Bar 41.The Dutch delegation included chefs as Michelin star chef Moshik Roth, Marco Westmaas, Alain Alders, Menno Post, Hidde de Brabander, Yuri Verbeek, Patrick Kelder and tv chef Alain Caron.
The recently renovated Koppert Cress kitchen proved to be an ideal location for such an event. The professionally equipped space has been enlarged to also facilitate video recording. Koppert Cress is convinced that moving images and the new media are going to be crucial tools to communicate with younger generations. The company is constantly looking for new opportunities en applications to serve their target audiences as effective as possible.
